Hi all,

I just bought my first rifle a  Tikka .308.
I need some help choosing one of these scopes:

Burris full field 6.5-20x50mm
Zeiss Terra 4-12X42mm

They all are in the same price range.
I like the Zeiss but the higher magnification on the other two scopes got me wondering,
I am quite new in this game and probably don't know half as much as you guys Wink.

Thanks,
Paul.

What are you going to use it for, hunting or targets?

What are the minimum and max ranges you will be shooting?

Budget?

I won't shoot further than 450 yards  ( 400m) for hunting and for targets.
My budget is about 550$.

I would keep your scope magnification 4X or 3X on the low end...

A good 3-9 would be plenty unless you are hunting very small critters. A Bushnell Elite, Sightron SII Big Sky, Meopta MeoPro, or a Zeiss Conquest off of www.samplelist.com are all very good options. 9x on top is plenty for big game and targets at the ranges you specify and 3x on the bottom is much more versitle for hunting. Of the three listed the 4-12 Terra would be my pick of those but if you really want 12x on top I would go with the 3-12 Sightron Big Sky. I have one on a 25-06 and it works for everything from small varmints to deer and pronghorn at the ranges you list and beyond.

burris is one of the top end scopes. i own 8 signature series burris, and am very pleased with them. i bought this 6.5x 20 fullfield 2 for my 700 223. when it arived i was quite suprised. this scope is as good as my signatures. looks great and holds zero. i love it but i think the coyotes are going to hate it this winter Big Grin

Let us know how you like the Terra. Not a lot of info out there since they were just introduced.
