I've been pretty intent on buying the simmons master series prohunter
scope. I've heard amazing things about it. Also, i've heard people
talking about the Burris fullfield on this forum. just a couple
questions...
Don't people say burris is trash? is this a new era of burris that is considered quality? also, does anyone have experience with the master series and truzero abilities? one more thing... i'm deer hunting/coyote hunting in open plains here at school, but may at some point move to forest back home. i'll be taking anywhere from 100-200 yard shots, even up to 300 occasionally. if i get the fullfield 2, should i go 3-9 or 4.5-12? am i compromising the lower 3 range for the 12? is 4.5 too shakey or large for the possibility of a 50 yard shot? any help would be great. |

Anyone who would call Burris trash has never used one. Actually, I have never heard anyone make a statement like that. I would not say that Burris is the best scope made. But, dollar for dollar, they hold their own against anyone.

I have an older Burris Fullfield 3-9 and a new Burris Signature Select 3-10x40. Both are great scopes. I never had the older scope fail me once and the Signature with Ballistic Plex is a joy to shoot.
Just yesterday I shot an elk at 378 yards using the Ballistic Plex reticle and it worked PERFECTLY!!!!
My older Fullfield is not in the same class as the Signature as far as glass clarity and brightness, but it never once failed me and ALWAYS moved the impact of the bullet exactly where I moved the crosshairs to impact. It never moved from zero whatsoever.
If this is junk, I will gladly take another piece of junk. I understand the optics are better (brighter and clearer) with the newer Fullfield II and I know that the turrets were moved more center line of the tube.
Now, I have had older and cheap Simmons scopes that were just flat out junk. I have heard of decent scopes from them, and it sounds like these new lines in the Master Series are a definite step in the right direction. I personally don't know as I have gone Burris and Weaver since and been favorably impressed.
FWIW these are my opinions.
