I've been looking to pick up a Burris FF2 4.5-14 scope and wanted opinions from folks on the quality difference (if there is one) between the ones made in the USA and one's assembled in the Philippines.

The ones that come packaged w/the spotting scopes are the not assembled in the USA, have different lens coatings, and a different finish.  Would I be better off getting the standalone version made in the USA or are the package deal scopes of the same quality?

that scope has no quality difference over the other FF2's, and is a awesome scope

Thanks for the response - I hope that is the case.  I do have this feeling though that they had to make the money up somewhere on the package-deal scopes, and my biggest concern was with the different coatings.  Still a great scope, but maybe not as good as it's sibling.

I don't know if I can bring myself to pop for the package deal ('cause I want the free spotter!) knowing that it's got different coatings and is made in the Philippines.  I actually like the scope finish more on the package deal scope though, doesn't show the finger prints!

Anybody look through both side-by-side?  Chris?

A Fullfield II is a great scope for the money regardless of where it is made.  Hopefully Burris will continue to insure this.

Just got a couple of quick response emails from Burris C/S and here's what they say:

"The scopes are the exact same and do not differ in any material or parts being used. The scope offered in the package deal are assembled in the Philippines using the exact same materials and procedures used here."

(regarding the lens coatings and finish) "Sounds like a older version but the formula for the lens coatings will be the exact same with the appearance of the tint being a different color. A updated finishing process was used about one-year ago.

Thank you,
Burris"

Good to hear, and the response time makes the decision easier too.

For what it is worth, I have purchased two of the Burris Fullfield II 3x9 package deals, and am very pleased with the FF II scopes.  I too, noticed that they no longer had the "made in USA" on the bell, and wondered if they still were.  Apparently not, but I assume Burris will still stand behind them with their lifetime warranty.  If not, then I have purchased my last Burris scopes.  I haven't hunted with them yet, but they are working fine at the range.  Have one mounted on a Model 70 Super Shadow in .270WSM and the other is on a Howa Lightning 1500 in 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser..  Will try to remember to post back in 6 weeks to let you know how they hunted.  Early reports are:
