I want a 1.5-6 scope with 40-42mm lens and a number 4 or heavy plex reticle. The Burris Euro Diamond is nice and I can get one for around $350 but I am also interested in the new Meopta Meostar with illumination. I dont really need the illumination but Im sure that model will only come with it. Either way is the Meopta going to worth the difference in cash or should I just go with a Burris Euro diamond. Im sure the Meopta will run around $800 at least. Ive never had a Meopta but have heard good things.

Hi,

I came across your post and wanted to put some information on the table for you.
The Meostar R1 1.5-6x42 with day/low-light illumination will be at Meopta USA in June at which time the final suggested retail price will be established. But you are right that it should be somewhere a little bit above $800.
Also, if the price is an issue you might want to consider the original generation Artemis 2000 1.5-6x42 which is avaialble with either a heavy Z-Plex or standard #4 reticle.
The main differences between the Artemis 2000 and Meostar R1 versions are 1) steel (Artemis) vs. aluminum (Meostar) body construction, 2) First focal plane (Artemis) vs. second focal plane (Meostar) reticle placement, light transmission ~90% (Artemis) vs. ~94% (Meostar) and finally price.  The Artemis 2000, while not a regulary stocked item, can be special ordered for about $450.
Good luck in your decision making!
