I have decided that I cannot pass on the Burris blow out, I am going yo put either the 1.5-6x40 non illuminated p3#4 or the illuminated 3-12x50 p3#4 on my ar, the larger and illuminated scope is only $50 more, can anyone help me with the advantages ond disadvantages of one over the other ?

My AR 5.6 grendel has a eurodiamond 1.5-6 illuminated ret. MPBR @ 250 yards.  with the heavy posts & illumination feel quite comfortable in real world hunting of central virginia as have a true hold for 10" vital zone out to 400 yds.  there appears to be no tunneling I can see and very clear and high contrast glass.

I'm in the same dilemma...and then there's the 3-12x56...there's a monkey wrench...or, should we just go buy Zeiss Conquests for 399 and call it good???

Why illuminated on one and non on the other?

I would like an illuminated one, but I hear they have issues (breaking, not working, etc.).

The 1.5 is perfect for me for deer hunting...but that 3-12x50 will help me in range practice/sighting in, etc.

Not to mention...the 3-12x50 should have better low light capability? The mathematicians will be along and explain the exit pupil/stuff...40/1.5 = 26.66 vs 50/3 = 16.66...of course, the catch is that most of our eyes can't use more than 7mm...and I'm thinking mine must be less than that as I've gotten older.

the smaller one is $299 and non illuminated, the 3-12x50 is illuminated and $350, that is my budget max, married guy her with a secret pay pal account the 1.5-6 with illumination is $500, that is just a bridge too far, I wish I could look thru them and compare, I was hoping someone would know if the 3-12 on low power is very quick and instictive as I know the 1.5 power will be?

If you are a hunter get the 1.5x and if you're a paper puncher get the 3x
