Thoughts?
Seems to be a little weighty.
I looked at a larue first hand seemed to be not poorly designed but, not great either?

My favorite among the QDs is the American Defense recon mount, it is light, it locks up very securely, and it can be uninstalled/re-installed with very little shift in point of impact.

I haven't run a Larue in a few years, mostly because they chew up rails and have poor repeatability in dismount/remount.

I used a Burris early on, and thought it was okay.

For light weight and good repeatability, go with the AD Recon.

But first, figure out what you will be mounting in it.

I prefer the Bobro mounts. Others here have had great success with Aadland and American Defense. I'm not sure what you didn't like about the Larue, but my Larue stuff has been top knotch.

Whatever you decide, it pays to spend the money and get a good mount right out of the gate. You'll be glad you did.

I like the bobro too, and the Aadmount, but the Aadmount is not light-weight, and the bobro had those annoying proprietary fasteners.  Do the new ones retain the same fasteners?  I saw that the nut now attaches on the top and not on the bottom, but it looked like the same fastener.

I find sometimes just because something is more expensive it's not better but most cases it is. The rifle is already a bit over 5pounds so a weighty component is something I dont need.
I have iron sights on so I need a quality qd mount for whatever scope tops it. I have only looked at one mount first hand so I have really no perspective.

You bet. The Burris mount pales in comparison to a quality mount like you purchased.

Come back and let us know how it goes.

Keep in mind, that the second gen Aadmount is quite a bit lighter than the first.  It is not QD, though.

For light weight, the Aero Precison mount is by far the lightest I have seen to date, although mounting a scope in it can be a touch tricky.

Generally, I am with the consensus here: my QD mounts are typically either Bobro or American Defense.  For fixed mounts I pretty much stick with Aadland products.

Same here.

Will take a look at the Aero, if/when needed.
