Which scope would you choose, the Burris 3-9x40 Fullfield TAC 30 or Leupold 3-9x40 Mark AR, if you didn't have the money for a Super Sniper 3-9x40?  The rifle is a 20" barreled AR15A2, the scope mount is an ARMS #2 carry handle mount with #21 30mm STANAG rings.  If I get the Leupold, I will have to get 1" inserts for the rings.  Which of these two scopes has better glass and is more rugged?  I am putting together a designated marksman type rifle?

the Leupold is BDC for the 55gr bullet, is this what you mainly shoot? If so I would go with that and might as well get the package deal they have now with the Burris PEPR, its rock solid and the package makes it more appealing than the inserts on a detach carry handle (given yours is a detachable handle).  If you shoot anything else I would say the Burris but it doesn't come with the mil dot reticle.  I honestly would check the sample list for a variable SS or either save a couple more months and get it.  You will be happier waiting a month or so and getting the SS than settling if you really want the SS now.

The rifle has a fixed carry handle (AR15A2), so I am using the A.R.M.S. #2 mount.  I have #21 30mm STANAG rings so if I use a 1" tube scope I will need inserts.  If it is a 30mm tube scope, I am good to go.  Maybe I will save some more money and get the 3-9x42 Super Sniper.  Your saying that the glass and build quality are better than the Burris or Leupold?

From all the reviews and info I have obtained. (I have not personally used the leu) IMO Burris is not even close to the SS

Variable S.S. is in a different league altogether and if you can hold off and save a little more to get one, I would encourage you to do that.

Between Leupold Mark AR and Burris Fullfield TAC 30, I think they are of about the same quality overall and both are significantly overpriced (by a hundred bucks or so).
