Hello all! I have been doing TONS of research and believe i have narrowed my scope choices to the following... but am open to suggestions. As I am not real knowledgeable beyond what i read i really need help. The only optics ratings I have found have been on outdoorlife.com and at that am not sure they are unbiased. It is amazing that there are no reliable light spectrometer ratings out there on the new optics but I have found NOTHING to support either decision! SO HELP PLEASE!!!

Which do you feel would be better? I want the best optics i can get for the money (500+or- a little)

What is the scope for?  Why do you want a 30mm tube?  Why do you want a 50mm objective?  Outdoor Life essentially sells those reviews in my opinion.

For that kind of money I would rather get somthing in the Zeiss Conquest line of scopes.

Hi, and thanks! Mainly hunting w/ 7mag. It is important that i get a really sturdy scope and also as much light and contrast as is possible. I do come into some shots 200+ yards in clear cuts, and i do a lot of shooting in low light.

A 30mm is no brighter than a 1" tube.  A 1" tube is more than strong enough for any 7mm.  A 50mm objective is no brighter than a 40mm.  A 3-9x40 is about as versatile and as ideal as you can get for most deer/big game hunting.  Take a look at the Zeiss Conquest, Bushnell Elite 4200 and others in a 3-9x40 with 1"tubes.

in low light  the 50mill  would be the better choice..but a 40 is more than up to the taskBig Smile

I have a Burris ED 1.5-6x40 with the standard #4 reticle. I really like the scope a lot. I had never owned a Burris prior to this scope and always thought they were second rate but that was kind an uneducated opinion. They are very well made scopes and the glass on the ED is very good. it has held zero perfectly on my hunting rifle.
