Is there any information regarding these, apparently new, product lines other than pictures?

Thanks.

Ilya

That last scope looks like it was designed by the "Village People".

Chris,

Do you know if the XTR-312 based on the 3x12x50 Black Diamond or on the 3x12x50 Euro Diamond?  Is the ojective 50mm?  Will it be offered with illumination?  Will those style turrets be available to be retro fitted to other Burris 30mm tube scopes?  Will there be any other power/size combinations such as 2.5x10x44, 3x10x40 or 1.4x6x40?  I'm guessing that your first hands on examination will be at the SHOT Show.  Let us know what else you can find out about these scopes.

Thanks.

Stan

I just read in the latest issue of Guns and Ammo that the Burris XTR line will encompass eight scopes from a 1.5x6x40 to a 6x24x50 and will encompass side parallex adjustment, mildot recticules, steel on steel adjustments and the scope tubes will be 25% thicker.

Basically, the Burris will have a tactical scope line named XTR (Xtreme Tactical Riflescopes).  Tube wall thickness is 25% thicker than their normal scopes and 42% stronger.

Models include:

1.5-6x40 matte Illuminated Plex

10x50 Mil Dot

3-12x50 Matte Plex or Illuminated Ballistic Mil Dot

3-12x50 Olive Mil Dot

The XTR line will also feature some heavy duty rings, Red Dot sight and a Tactical Laser / Flashlight.

------------------------------------------------------------ ---

The Short Mag series are shorter, lighter scopes beefed up for light weight magnum abuse and with longer eye relief.

Models include:

1x

4x

2-7

3-9

4.5-14

------------------------------------------------------------ -

The Village People scope is really named "Sako Quad Scope" and it is built for the Sako rimfire rifle package that features 4 interchangeable barrels in .22lr, .17 Mach II, .17 HMR and .22 Magnum.  The color coding matches the color coding on the Sako barrels.  You can sight in each barrel with out losing you zero for the other barrels.

Models include:

3-9x40

------------------------------------------------------------

For more information contact Burris for one of their 2005 catalogs.

No prices yet.  Availability will be spring 2005....which really means summer or fall 2005 if they are like every other scope maker.

Chris,

I see that the Burris web site has posted specifications, mount information and the 2005 retail price list for the new XTR scopes.  Do you have any idea of when you will be able to post actual prices?  I am just guessing that the actual street prices will be about 56% of the suggested retail price.  This should make them very competitive with the tactical Leupolds.  I am very interested in the 1.5x6x40 Illuminated XTR scope.  It should be perfect on top of my AR15A2.  How do you think that they will compare with the Leupold MRT and LRT scopes from a quality and feature stand point?  I have also heard that Leupold has a new 1.5x5x20 MRT scope with new M2 knobs, do you have any information on it? Thanks.

Stan

If you want good info on it, you should email Burris directly.  I received their 2004 catalog and they sent me a 2005 catalog just to rattle my cage.  All of the specs are listed in the catalog...  One of those XTR scopes, and also in the 3- 12 X configuration is actually Olive Drab in color with black adjustment turrets, and I have to say it looks really cool.  I think that their renditions of tactical scopes are sweeter looking than any of their other offerings, even the new Euro Black Diamonds.  They will send you a complete catalog of everything that they market.

The tactical XTR scopes have an illuminated duplex or an illuminated Ballistic Mil Dot, and it won't be long until I have one for a varmint gun...

Not to be missed either is their combination laser and tactical flashlight that will mount to the bottom of a handgun easily.

                Thought you should know.

You are pretty close as to your assumption on street price.  Still too early for us to list them or compare them to Leupold's offerings.  I can say that they were well aware of who their competition was before they started making them.

The new Leupold 1.5-5x20 Mark 4 will be available in two configurations.

Leupold Mark 4 PR 1.5-5x20 Special Purpose Reticle.....$599.99

Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 1.5-5x20 Illumianted Special Purpose Reticle, M2.....$799.99

Chris,

Thanks for the information.  I asume that Burris will have them on display at the Shot show.
