So a few weeks ago i placed a order with SWFA and bought a Bushnell 1.5-6x42 Trophy 30mm Rifle Scope.

I loved the fact it was a 30MM tube and low power with a large bell. plus it has a 3 plex with illuminated dot. perfect for deer and varmint here in MN.

I oredered a 30mm 1 peice mount for my AR-10 and it looked great on it. so off the the range to break the gun in and zero the scope

after about 3-4 shots the retical moved and a few more shots more yet then the illumination died or came loose.
no biggie bumbled but called SWFA and they gave me the number for Bushnell's returns

sent it in and i today i receive its replacement

i sent them Bushnell 1.5-6x42 Trophy 30mm Rifle Scope with ill. 3 plex
they send  Bushnell 3-9x40 Trophy XLT 1.00 Rifle Scope with 600 DOA

So they mush not have been able to fix it. but man it is not even close to what i had

dollar for dollar it was about the same the replacement is 5 bucks less but it is pretty far off on equipment features. but they don't have ill reticals or 30mm tubes..  what would you guys do..
I wish they had contacted me to give me a option for a replacement.

so now i have a scope i dont want and a mount i cant use.

Geez, I would call them and tell them to refund you the money if they cannot give you the scope you want.  Or at least give you credit towards a different scope.  That sucks bro.

Just as a side note, ARs are pretty hard on scopes as they have forward and backward recoil.  I have broke several cheap scopes on ARs.  Look at the 3200 and 4200s.  I have a couple 4200s on ARs and they are doing well.

I don't feel tha its right for them top replace with a differnet size tube.  I'd call them and raise a stink!  If nothing else they should credit you the full price toward any other scope of your choice and you pay hte difference.  That or they should give youi a credit equal to the cost of the now useless mount.

Absolutely, I would give them the "opportunity" to make it right. They should have given you a scope of "at minimum" similar features, and equal to or greater value for your trouble. I would be a tad bit pissed myself.

Yes AR's are rather hard on scopes, still a Trophy model should hold up. I have a trophy model red dot that has done well on mine.

http://swfa.com/Bushnell-125-4x24-Elite-4200-Rifle-Scope-P11605.aspx  I would call them and tell them what they did was totally unacceptable because you had already purchased the 30mm mount and insist that it must  be replaced with a 30mm illuminated reticle scope because you bought that model for those features.  I would suggest that you tell them that it is really not your fault that they can not repair or replace it with the identical model but that it must be not only 30mm tube but also illuminated and suggest you ask them to replace it with the Bushnell 4200  1.25-4x24 which is a much closer match to what you purchased.  Tell them you hunt coyotes at night and must have the illumination.

Bushnell's CS plain sucks. Being a massive company they are just to big and employ to many CS agents that some get through the cracks and it's hit or miss as to how you are treated. I've called multiple times and usually get nowhere with them.

With that being said, stay away from Simmons and Tasco, Bushnell owns both and they are cheaply made products.

Go with a Bushnell product (3200 or 4200 line preferably).

Ask them about the possibility of an upgrade. I know it sucks to have to shell out additional coinage. But if you can get a good deal on a better scope, go for it.

Point them to this thread and tell them that they are getting all sorts of bad publicity out of this.

If they are replacing your scope with a different model, it should be something of comparable configuration: tube diameter, magnification range, etc.

Raw deal.  Still surprises me how a company can take that approach when there are other options available.  I would think market share, retaining and growing it would have more priority.  Guess I am wrong.  Hope it shakes out for you, but would agree with others, refund, not a replacement.

It's sad really, because Bushnell has righted the ship in terms of putting out better products over the last handful of years. The elite line 3200-6500 is one of the most respected on the market and anyone should consider them if purchasing scopes in their respective price ranges.

But i can say that i do not enjoy going through their customer service. It didn't prevent me from purchasing their Elite 6500 2.5-16x Tactical model but again, with them you sort of hope you don't have a problem with a product, for fear of getting a run around.

Well i called them back and this gentlemen was very helpful.   I explained i was told to make 3 choices, and was having trouble finding something in 30mm  and low power and ill dot, or if not i wanted something else i could use.
He made a suggestion.

 http://swfa.com/Millett-1-4x24-DMS-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P9251.aspx

So i have to wait a few days till i get the return shipping lable/call tag and can make a decision then

otherwise if i get something i could still use on something else  i dont know if i would do a fixed power but i would consider something in the 3200 series like the 10x42 mildot.

Supertool is correct....go for the 3200. It's a very solid $200ish scope.

I called primary arms and have them sending me there reducers for the mount so if i do have to go with 1" instead of the 30mm but the inserts go on the bottom and push the  scope a little higher.

either way he made it sound  like i may have to shell out cash some a upgrade. but it is at  cost  which the price he have me was really pretty good.

as for the 3200 i would consider a mill dot scope not looking for the multi-x  so again not alot of options and refund didnt seam to be in the vocab.

so any other options you all want to throw out  in the 200 -300 range i will certainly look at them.

The way I am hearing too many horror stories lately concerning Bushnell. So much for the warranty crap. I don't believe I will be offering them as a suggestion any time soon any longer. I would simply ask that I got my money back. Then take my business elsewhere. Vortex is making great strides towards CS, and offering very good equipment for the price.

You know Cyborg, the funny thing is it's not like their products don't hold up or work well. They've really made strides in quality. Ilya has wrote some damn good reviews of their elite line scopes but their CS is usually crap. It's such a drastic gap between their good scopes and the people who are supposed to help you out when something is wrong.

I'm waiting on Vortex to iron out the PST's. Their CS alone makes it worthwhile to do business with them.

I have used their CS a couple times and it has been fantastic.  I think we only hear about the bad ones.  Granted there should not be bad ones, but I know they don't always treat their customers like crap.

I have pimped Bushnell for a long time now. But what I am seeing lately is they simply want your money, not your business. They do make some pretty decent scopes, so what? Others are doing that now too. Others are also backing them up with good CS, and actually caring to do business, not simply a monetary transaction.

Rest on your reputation Bushnell, and you won't have that for very long.

Oh i've had good experiences with them ST, but to many bad ones for my taste. I don't want anyone to think i'm trashing their products. They put out good scopes but i've dealt with companies that you get treated like an exec every time you call or email. Places that have tremendous CS are SWFA, Vortex, LaRue, MidwayUSA, BCM etc....granted those aren't all optics makers but you never hear a bad word about them.
