I’m thinking about picking up a pair of 12X50 binoculars. Price is a concern because I still need to buy a ton of other stuff for an up coming hunt.
The primary purpose will be tripod mounted glassing for Muleys.

Can anyone advise me on the following porro prism models, they all are water proof, fully multi coated Bak4 prism, 12 X 50.  I belive all are under $200

Which one would be best for long hours of glassing ?

Nikon “Action Extreme”

Pentex “PCF WP II”

Bushnell “Legend”

First of all, the Nikon Action Extreme ATB binoculars are not FMC. In Nikon's 2007 Catalog they refer to these as only MC.
So, you can expect ghosting under certain bright lighting conditions, as well as less light transmission when compared to a FMC binocular such as the Pentax PCF WP II models.

When I compared the Nikon 12x to the Pentax 12x the PCF WP II was noticably brighter and clearer inside the store. I use the Pentax PCF WP II 12x50, the only gripe for hunting would be the narrower FOV @219' vs. 288' for the AE ATB and 290' for the Legend. The Pentax balance nicely for hand holding.

If FOV is important to you than you should consider the Bushnell Legend with the FMC optics.

The Pentax PCF WP II are the sharpest out to the edges because of the aspheric eyepiece elements, also, the Pentax has the Super-Multi-Layer Coating in addition to the FMC.

The Pentax are JIS Class 6 waterproof, the others do not advertise the waterproof rating of their binoculars.

The Pentax has the best eye relief of the three:
PCF WP II 20mm
AE ATB 16.1mm
Legend 15mm

Eye relief of 16mm to 20mm is considered best for eyeglass wearers.
