My brother-in-law just told me that BSA rifle scopes are much cheaper and just as high quality as leupolds.  I had a BSA on a single-cocker pellet rifle, and it did alright, but I don't know about dropping one on my 30.06.  Anybody out there tried them or a high-powered rifle under hunting conditions?

That should be "on a high-powered rifle"

Your brother obviously knows nothing about scopes.  As I have stated before, if it were not for NC Star, BSA would be the absolute worst scope made.  Do a search on this forum for BSA and you can get some more details.

ditto, BSA sucks, as far as im concerned, BSA is the crappiest scope made, you couldnt do any worse. your freind needs to do some research before telling a friend to buy a crappy scope.

It would probably hold up fine on a Daisy " Red Ryder ".

it might, and it might not... am suprised though, that the contender 6-24x50 held up for about 6 months on a remington 710 270. talk about one uncomfortable gun to shoot... bashed me in the forehead twice, i have 2 scars now. id rather shoot a 416 remington than that thing.

BSAs biggest problems are that they build on the cheap and they have no real quality control.  Scopes refuse to maintain zero from shot to shot or from one magnification to another.  They I have seen examples that had multiple images right out of the box.  Click adjustments are often useless.  The so-called waterproofing is not. There are other problems with these scopes, but you should get the idea.

I'll take the Sauer in that challenge, but without the BSA.

You guys don't give enough credit to BSA... I have a 6-24x50 mounted on a 30-06, and I shoot continous dollar-sized groupings at 225yds. It's more than enough for me to drop running whitetails, so I'm sure it'll fit your needs as well thomasaaron. Indeed Leupold is a great scope as well, I have 2 VXIII's and 1 VXII and all three are awesome, yet BSA does indeed deserve credit. I don't know if you that have used them are just poor shooters, or are one of those people that thinks by spending more money they'll get a better piece of equiment. Well, let me tell you this, for the most part this may be true, however there is a lot more to shooting than just a fancy scope...
