I am not a major gun enthusiast but do enjoy target practice.  I recently purchased a BSA sweet 17 and mounted it on my 17 rifle and it works great.  I see BSA has one for the 22 of which I would like to get and mount - however - there is a price difference between the two and wondered if I could put the 17 on the 22?  I assume optics don't care what load or ammo that is used?  Any comments are appreciated.

The optics don't care what load or ammo is used, but the drop compensating turret that's calibrated for the .17 HMR cares very much. The markings for yardage on the Sweet 17 turret will mean absolutely nothing on a .22.

Welcome

Trigger is dead on. You'll lose the function of the calibrated bullet drop feature.

You can certainly use it on a .22, and if you just punch paper from a set distance you can zero the scope and hit that spot, but you'll just have to use memory and hold over to shoot different distances.
