I just picked up a BLR '81 in 7mm mag. I want to use it this deer season, so I need a scope on the quick. At this time I cannot afford to spend a lot (and I know the price for high end optics is well deserved, I just haven't allotted for it right now). Around $250 max. I am not familiar with this gun, so I don't know what size scope will fit (a 40mm? 50mm? Reticle, not tube...). Also, since i need it yesterday, it will have to come from somewhere local. To me, that means local gun shop (smallish) or Wally World.
Suggestions? THANKS!! VV |

I'd go with the Bushnell 4200 Elite 3-9X40. SWFA has it for $258.99 and they could probably overnight it to ya. Last time I looked a WW they didn't have anything close to the 4200. For the little bit extra the shipping might cost will be getting much better optics! |

Have you used this scope? Stand up well? I haven't had good luck with Bushnell warranty recently (my airgun ate a Bushnell Banner 4x12x50 AO in < 50 pellets). By the time it was over I felt lucky to have a scope in my hands again (but not the same scope, a rebuilt scope with scratches and scuffs mine did not have...after a couple months time frame). I might be willing to try them again with a higher end (less failure rate?) model...
Thanks for the suggestion. Exactly what I'm looking for. VV |

V V, welcome to The OT!!
The 4200 is well thought here and other reputable forums. It should serve you well.
Glass quality, for actual money spent, makes the 4200 a very good choice. |

Thanks :)
How about the 2.5-10? I've found someone local willing to deal on this model. All I've ever had for deer hunting were 3-9's... |
