Well folks, here is my story. I had been looking for a bolt action .223 for a bit. My big need was accuracy, proper fit and with a 1:8 twist BBL. Well, I found a suitable rifle in the X-Bolt hog stalker. It fit me well, had a great trigger and was (supposedly) a 1:8 twist. I bought it for a reasonable $. I got it scoped and headed to the range. It shot terrible with any of my 75 grainers. It shot terrible with everything except for some Black Hills 60 Gr. V max that were almost MOA. Not happy. Came home and measured the twist... 1:12 ... WTF. So I contacted Browning and they verified it was indeed a 1:12. They also stated that the rifle in question was never made with a 1:8! Well, it just so happens that I had taken a screenshot of their web page with my iPhone just in case! So, based on that and the dealer verifying the 1:8, I purchased. Now, on their discontinued models page, it shows a 1:12 twist! It was changed. I don't want this 1:12 rifle and attempting to swap it out for a 1:8. So far, no go. Neither Browning or the gun dealer have offered any solution. I believe there is some dishonesty occurring here. I guess Browning is not "the best there is" after all. Another case of customer non-service. Bat Rastards.

I don't care for Browning's anyway This is another reason. See if you can find emails from janators to President at Browning and send a email to all of them everyday untill it's fixed.

Way too many gun manufacturers apparently think twist is unimportant and cling to traditional twist rates from 30 years ago. And, for the average deer hunter, they're probably right. Given today's bullets, I don't understand why all rifle manufacturers don't go with the faster twists within each bore diameter, as there's almost no downside to doing so, and it doesn't cost more.

Browning has no warranty. They have not for some time. I buy their bolt actions because they sell them with the bolt on the correct side and the safety in the correct spot. If they had real competition I would not.

If you could get a paper trail showing they did not deliver what was promised, you might go the small claims route. I'd spend the ~$50 just to inconvenience them out of spite. (This is not legal advice. It might not even be good advice.)

Remington has been doing the same thing with the 300 blks. Claiming they are 7" twist and they are 10" twist.

I've found if you want a guaranteed twist on a gun, you better buy aftermarket and have it installed.   Even then you better check prior to working on the blank!

I am on a facebook 300 blk bolt action site.  A few of the guys have said they sent their guns back to remington to have them rebarred with the 7 twist that remington is claiming should be on them.  Only to get them back with a new barrel but it is still a 10" twist.  They are even stamping them 7" twist.  Others are claiming theirs came back with a proper 7" twist.

Another thing about Browning that pisses me off.  They glue, red lock tite, anti seize or whatever they want to call it, the barrels to the actions.  I called them once about a barrel change as this is what they told me.  They are not meant to be rebarreled, but are a throw away action.  Those were the exact words of the customer service rep.  So I did a little research on it.  Gun smiths do indeed rebarrel then, but they are glued on and it not done right it is easy to ruin the action taking the factory barrel off.

Then my abolt claimed it had an amazing adjustable trigger that would go down to a very light pull.  No matter what I adjusted it to, it was always the same.  Heavy as hell.  Again I called them about that and was just told yeah, they sometime don't adjust very well, sorry about that.

I bought a spring from Basic rifle triggers and it suddenly became fully adjustable and is excellent now.  How hard would it be for them to put in a proper spring.  SMH.

Then on my Abolt they use a small wood type screw to hold the trigger guard into the synthetic stock.  First time I took it off, it got stripped out because the stock material is so soft.  Again called them.  Yeah, those stocks are pretty soft, we recommend never taking them out.  You will just have to buy a new stock for it.  I get that I stripped it, but why would they put a piece of hardware together like that.  A single 1/2 screw into a soft stock and expect it to hold up.   I ended up epoxying the trigger guard to the stock and it works fine but damn.

I like the Brownings that I have for the most, but I will not buy another one in the future, just to many issues.

Post your story on every website possible and when you email them, as Big Daddy suggests, list the forums you posted on. Never bought their rifles, and after reading these posts, never will. They make decent OU shotguns, though.
It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed. TR

I have two BARs, one in 30-06 with BOSS and one in .243.  I had a Browning Stalker in 7mmRemMag, but gave it to my Marine son-in-law because he liked it so much.  Shouldn't have... he has not fired it since I gave it to him.  But he has been going to school at Lejeune and made Master Gunny... guess he deserves a little slack.

The BAR with BOSS is as accurate as any off the shelf rifle I've ever had hands on.  After proper tuning with the BOSS, it's limitations are only with the shooter.  The .243 is a half MOA rifle, as was the Stalker... but the Stalker has BOSS, as well.  Precise tuning is key.

As for function... NEVER a problem.  My first few years in Alabama, the BARs were all I hunted with.  But then, I'm partial to great semi-autos.
