anyone own an abolt stainless stalker? are these good rifles? accurate? basspro is having a sale on them and i need a good all weather rifle.   toying with the idea of picking one up in 308.   i own remington and tikka and love both. handled the browning in the store and liked the way it felt. just rarely hear anyone talk about browning rifles

I own an A Bolt 270 from the mid-1980's. It is an exceptionally accurate rifle. That being said, I have friends who have newer versions that do not hold near the groups that mine does. I don't know if I got a good rifle, or they got bad. I know this doesn't help much.
I also have a Tikka in 30-06, and it is also an exceptional rifle.
If you can get the Browning on sale at a great price, you shouldn't have any problem getting rid of it if you decide you don't like the performance.

I have an early 90's abolt stainless stalker in 7mag. Two trips to South Africa and twenty years of deer hunting--it is highly accurate. Also mid 2000's 375 H & H-also accurate as well. Adjust the trigger pull and both have been good to go!! The knock on browning is that they are push feed and not control feed. This has not been a problem for me. If you can get it at a good price get it! Happy hunting and merry Christmas!
