Gday my name is Crag I have been reading these topics for a while now and have found alot of the talk to be quite interesting now it has come time for me to ask a question and hopefully get a bit of feed back.

How would you rate a blast from the past  6-18x40 Redfield Golden 5star in comparison to whats new today??

Good scope for its time period, assuming you are referring to the USA made Redfield Golden 5 Star.  After they went out of business another company bought the name "Redfield" and put it on lessor quality scopes made in the orient.

I would say the old "real" Redfield Golden 5 Star would compare today to a Burris Fullfield II.
