I own several rifles, Ar10, ar15's Ak variants, some lever guns a shotgun and a brit 303 with iron sights. Until recently I have been satisfied with a BSA 8-32x50 mounted on my Ar10 and a leapers compact 3-9 mounted on 1 of my ar15's. Don't laugh. I recently purchased a remington vtr in 223 and topped it with a vortex viper 6.5-20x50. I really like this scope, on a cool day i can see 22 cal holes at 300 yrds. My first mistake was that I didn't buy from SWFA, yes I paid too much. My second mistake was comparing my BSA and My Leapers to the Viper. That's when I was bit by the optics bug. A couple weeks ago I was able to purchase an Aimpoint off the sample list, this replaced the leapers 3-9 on my ar15. Now I'm looking to replace the Bsa on my Ar10. Like most people I want to get the most for my money, I realize now that even though the bsa and leapers each cost less than 50 bucks, it was wasted money. I would like to buy a leica or a schmidt and bender but the fact is I just can't afford it. I have narrowed my selection to Bushnell elite 6500, leupold vx3 or zeiss conquest. I really like the range of the bushnell 6500 but I also want the best glass. How do these three scopes compare glass wise. Is the leupold that much better than the bushnell? Is the zeiss that much better than the leupold? Even purchasing these scopes off the Samplelist represents a major expenditure for me, hence the agonizing. All help and opinions will be carefully weighed and appreciated by me. Thanks. Scottb.   Big Smile

Welcome Scott. Once bitten the fever is hard to control, good luck. Of those mentioned I think the general consensus here is that the Zeiss will stand above the others. Leupold has improved the glass in the new VX3 line as compared to the old VXIII. It and the Bushnell are probably now fairly close. If considering an older VXIII however the Bushnell would be significantly better.

All three of these are quite good.

The final decision is likely to be driven by application.

What do you use your AR-10 for?

Thanks for the replies. I use the ar 10 for shooting steel out to 600 yards, although it's mostly used at 300 yrds. I think I'll try to get a zeist conquest up to 14x off the sample list when I get the cash put together. Thanks again S.B.

Another to look at is the Minox ZA5 6-20x50,glass equalls the conquest but it gives you a 5x mag vs 3x mag box & a side focus.
