I'm trying to decide between Dakota Elite 10x42 and Nikon 10x42 Monarch ATB. Tried both out,the Nikon seemed to be slightly brighter.Trying to justify the $120 increase for the nikons. Is there anything I'm missing besides the minimal brightness?

Good heavens there sure is a lot of cheap Chinese "private label" garbage on the market nowadays.

silver is right.  Buy the Nikon and don't look back.

Check out a pair of Olympus Magellan EXP II 10x42 binos.  I love my pair, maybe not the best in the world, but maybe the best bang for the buck.  Make in Japan, mine have stood up to two hunting seasons and pouring rain.  You can find them on line for around 200 bucks.  But, as I always say, I know, you guys are getting tired of hearing me say this, take a look through anything you buy and compare it to somethig else you are considering.

Nikon are OK. Watch the eye cups, they may not last 10 years. Comfortable if they stay in place.
