I only have 350 for a new pair of binocs.  Will be used for huunting and general use. Been looking at Wind Rivers Olympics.  Any suggestions.

Thanks

It's difficult to imagine that you could do anything better with your $350 than to skip a dinner and add the extra 30 bucks to buy this binocular off of SWFA's Sample List:

3034 Kahles 8x32 Click for Picture Compact rubber armored roof prism, super light, super bright and super wide field of view, like new condition $643.00 $379.95

Absolutely the widest field of view with the sharpest image and the brightest colors that you're going to find at that dollar amount in a European phase coated, submersible water proof, light weight roof prism binocular with twist up eye cups and great eye relief.  The Olympics are a nice binocular.  The Kahles at that dollar amount can only be classified as a great binocular.

They won't wear you out from carrying them and the quality of the glass insures that even though they're 32mm objectives, you'll still get good low light performance.  Not to mention they'll short focus down to 3 or 4 feet while delivering over 400' field of view at 1000 yds.  You can scan a lot of tree line with these binocs without getting fatigued.

The lifetime warranty is provided via the Swarovski customer service hot line and the couple times I've dealt with the Kahles service agents to obtain warranty cards for registration or buy Kahles label merchandise, they've been most helpful.

Just my two cents...

Take the long way home.

Thanks for the response.

Do you tink that the Khales 8x32 are as good in low light light conditions as others in this price range?  This may be a dumb question but I am very much a novice in the realm of optics.

Thank you again

David

Great question!

All things being equal, a larger objective lets in more light.  Having said that, things are seldom if ever equal when discussing optics.

It's been my experience that if a binocular has superior quality glass and optics that are fully multi coated, these factors impact low light capability nearly as much as objective size.

Kahles has excellent quality in both respects.

Kahles binoculars are known for their low light capabilities to begin with and the 8x32's are no exception.

Kahles off the samplelist for sure.

If you want more power or larger objectives consider these:

Weaver 8.5x45 Grand Slam.....$349.95

 Pentax 10x42 DCF HRII.....$298.99
