i've never seen one of those, but let me guess:

Pentax contracted with one of the manufacturers in Japan to produce  a high quality individual focus binocular. Probably the same factory that makes the Fujinon binoculars. The price is high because binocular prices are high in Europe. You would think that if they ask such a price they would describe them correctly: they are described in German as central focus, which they are not.

If you want something like that or better get a Fujinon FMTR SX for $600.

Hello Anweis

I have the fujinons, I have been looking for a upgrade with higher magnification in a porro for a few days now.

I am exploring all options before buying and I am starting to narrow down my choices.

Trinidad,

www.tristatecamera.com/lookat.php?refid=263&sku=PEN1050PF

If I could sell them overseas for $1200-$2000 instead of $450 in the states, WHY NOT!!!!!

Sounds like what the Big 3 are doing over here in America, as far as pricing is concerned.

Also, take a quick look at the IOR B/DF 10x50
http://www.valdada.com/vn/ior/01k

I did not see a Fujinon 10x50 FMT-SX in the catalog or on their web-site. However, they are still for sale on the internet. Excellent binoculars!

SVD, if you're looking for a high-powered porro, have you considered the Nikon Superior E?  It's regarded by many bino enthusiasts to be the finest porro you can buy, plus, it's available in 10X42 and 12X50 versions.  The only disadvantage to them is they aren't totally waterproof like a good roof prism bino, but then again, most porros aren't.  Actually there's another disadvantage --  they don't have the extreme close focus capability of most roofs, but if you're primarily a hunter and don't care about observing birds and insects really close-in, that may be a non-issue.

Trinidad,

Just curious, have you bought your binos yet?  If so, what did you get?

Hello RD,

I spent quite a bit on a couple of scopes recently and I have decided to wait a bit to see if

anything new comes out later this year. I will keep my eye out on all of the options as the

year progreses and post my latest thoughts before I buy with all of you to see what you

all think.

I can relate.  There are so many toys I'm interested in at present, I will have to spread the purchases out over 2-3 years!
