Considering the following scopes: vortex viper 3-9x40, viper hs 2.5-10x40 or Burris e1 3-9x40. Most concerned with low light performance. Pretty much will be mounting it and leaving it as is so not too concerned with accuracy of adjustments and such. Just want a bright, durable hunting scope.

Thanks, mike

Elite 4200 (Japan) and the HD raingaurd is a plus (pass legal hunting light)...just flat hard to beat for the money IMO

FYI-
Read a few complaints about the New Elites glass not being on par with the 4200 but don't own one so I can't say

Eagle

Forgot to mention; a lot of folks happy with the Burris E1, but the glass just doesn't compare to the Elite 4200 IMO

Since I hunt in low light, at night under full moon (no other light source) etc the Trijicon w/ Tritruim reticle is the best low light with an illum reticle performer and I'm glad the members talked into buying one.

No matter how great the glass is, the reticle will be hard to see in extreme low light ( night/moon), even with a thicker reticle so the illum reticle is advantage IMO.

Also, Good glass will not make complete darkness turn into daylight and will not replace night vision.

The Viper HS is the best of this bunch.  Nice overall scope for the money.
