Hey Folk!

I want a spotting scope to use primarily on the range. Never owned or even used one before. Can you give me some recommendations?

Thank you!

I won a Leupold Wind river 15-45X60 strait model on the SWFA photo contest and it has been very good for range shooting ,but I would recommend the angled model to you.

It is about $ 300.

I lucked into a Brunton 20-60X90 about 4 years ago with the angled body and this is surprisingly clear on the lower powers but it is very pickey on the high powers.

The angled body makes it very easy to use.

I donít know what Brunton cost now but I hear it is a lot..

Look at the Nikon and Pentax for best resolution per dollar.

Bushnell Spacemaster. I read a side by side review/comparison of several spotting scopes and the Bushnell came out as a real value in the under $600 class.

The link above has it. The review is a dated 2001, but still useful. They compared the Kowa 612, Burris Signature, Swift Panther, Nikon Spotter XL, Bushnell Spacemaster, and Leupold Wind River. The Wind River fared the poorest (though the cheapest) and the Kowa was by a hair the best @ $499. The Bushnell Spacemaster is under $350 and VERY close optically to the Kowa.
