Hi, all!

I recently acquired an M1A Scout, Yippeeand am planning on mounting a scope on the Picatinny rail forward of the action.  I plan to use the rifle for long range target shooting, and perhaps some hunting.  I've looked into the Burris 2-7X scout scope, and learned that it is exactly the same as their 2-7X handgun scope.  Since I'm not planning on using the rifle for CQB or any such, I'm wondering if the Burris 3-12X handgun scope would be a better choice, giving me greater reach at 12X than most of the variable scouts at 7X.

I would value opinions y'alls opinions on this choice, or do you know of a better one?

Thanks!

Griff

The mount I would use is by Sadlak, haven't decided on the rings yet..

Having scoped an M1A with a few things, I would advise against the scout mount and would recommend an "over action" mount and a standard scope.  For long range, scout scopes aren't the best fit.

Oh, should have mentioned I removed the picatinny rail that comes with the scout and also replaced the handguard with a standard one thus covering the hole where the rail used to be... much, much better.  Thunbs Up

I agree.

I think that if you decided to use use the SS 3-15 with the ARMS 18 mount, you would be better served to accomodate shots throughout medium and into long range.
