Haven't tried a Kick-eeze but the limbsaver pad worked great on a lightweight Tikka  .270wsm I had and had another one on a .30-06 Sako I had as well !

The Limbsaver would be my choice. I've had very good results with it.

I hear Kick-eze is better than Limbsaver and this is from a competitive shotgun shooter in skeet and trap.

The 270 and 35 Whelen share the same cartridge. Both are based on 30-06 brass. Will the Whelen kick more? I honestly think it won't be much. The Whelen will shoot heavier bullets, but the 270 will have more velocity.

i put a limb saver on a light weight hard kicking .300wsm, and it was amazing how much it helped.

I have tried both and they both work well. The 35 whelen is not a heavy kicker, but it is more stout than the 270 you are familiar with.
For you info, I've found the 225gr SGK to be very accurate. This bullet is on the soft side, but I'd feel confident using it on animals up to elk, it really hits with authority on whitetails.
