Well I was pleased with the feedback I got an a previous topic about spotting scopes, I thought I would pick your brains again. This time about range finders.

I need a range finder that can consistently range a bush at over 600 yards for under $350 bucks. (I'm poor)

I would be using the rangefinder for hunting. I have used several brands in the past, but they are older generation rangefinders. I have never been able to actually lock onto an animal at any distance beyond 300 yards. Out to that range I don't need to know the distance.

I have heard now that most new range finders actually shoot the distances they are rated at. However, I recently tested a Bushnell VLR and couldn't get anything over 415. I was even testing it on giant white buildings. I would classify those as a "reflective target".

Also, does the angle sensing technology really work. I have heard negative feedback about it on almost all of the reviews I have read for Nikon, Bushnell, and Leupold.

thanks in advance

I'd look for a used  Leica Crf 800 or 1200.

Keywork for your price range is used.... keep an eye on the sample list.  I dont' think you will find a reliable, good, ranger for that new.

I have been using a Leica LRF for years and it has never let me down.  The new CRF is smaller, waterproof and faster... You won't be sorry if you buy the Leica.  You know the old saying, "buy once, cry once"... NV Hunter

freonr22,
Save up a few more $ and get this one. http://swfa.com/Leupold-RX-1000-Compact-Rangefinder-P12805.aspx  I have one and it is great. small and work from  5 yards out to 900+. the glass is clear and bright, it is very simple to use. i don't go in the woods with out it. Thats one of the top 5 items I take with me.
