I currently own a pair of Pentax CRF WP 8x42 binos. They have served me well but I have had them awhile and was wondering if new advances in coatings etc. make it worth while to get a new pair of binos. I get great deals on Leupold and Burris optics so I was thinking along those lines. Is it worth getting a new pair? Which binos from Leupold or Burris are the BEST. What other brands and models should I consider?

Leupold Gold Ring HD is nice glass (It is in the Meopta/ Razor level), but it is not threaded for a tripod mount due to a ridiculous and poorly functioning interpupilary lock.

Burris has a Euro line, which I believe is their top of the line.

I agree about the interpupillary "lock" on the standard Golden Rings.  It doesn't work worth a darn.

The Switch Power Golden Rings have the more traditional tripod mounting point.  I like these a lot.

I do not care for anything made by Burris.  I admit that this is mostly personal bias, but nevertheless...
