I will be putting it on a .308 used for whitetail deer, we never shoot over 220 yards and have many shots in low light conditions. Thank you

My question is always "what is your criteria for calling a hunting scope the best"?  It may mean something totally different to me than it does to you.  I'll say the perfect 6x hunting scope for me is a Leupold FX3 6x42.

1.  Relatively lightweight
2.  Price is right
3.  Very easy to use....forgiving eyebox
4.  Duplex reticle is very easy to see in low light
5.  It is a very bright scope, getting you well past legal light easily
6.  Very rugged and dependable.
7.  Very flexible mounting options, including a low profile eyepiece.
8.  Backed by Leupold....enough said

I have a 6x42 Leupold and would suggest the heavy duplex for low light. The scope itself is fantastic, very clear and bright in low light.

Yep, you want a heavy duplex or German #4 reticle for low light at shorter ranges; especially in the woods. VX3 or better glass should do half an hour in the woods or an hour in the open most days.

Is the 6X42 Schmidt and Bender that much better/clearer than the Meopta, IOR or Leupold? Those are the 4 I like so far. My Meopta binos are outstanding just never had their scopes. Thanks

I have had both the IOR 6x and the Leupold FX3  6x Heavy Duplex both are quite good. It is really hard to beat the IOR --"Shott brand German Glass"  For some reason I think the tube on the IOR is steel not alloy so if that makes a difference to you ask SWFA. That could have changed over the years though.
