I am wanting to purchased a new hunting scope.I  am debating between these  two scopes,VX l l   Leopold  3x9x40 and a Nikon monarch  2.5x10x42 .WHICH  SCOPE HAS THE BEST LENSES  AND WHAT RETICLE WOULD BE THE BEST FOR THE SCOPE/I AM NOT A FAN OF
THE BDC RETICLE,BECAUSE OF THE CIRCLES.I WOULD BE MAKING SHOTS OUT TO 350 YARDS.THE SCOPE WILL BE GOING ON A REM. 700 BOLT ACTION 308 CALBER.

The Monarch is more comparable to the VX3.

Between the two, the Monarch is better than the VX11.

Budget and the normal topography of the area you r hunting.  Bean field, pine thicket, open range grassland. Not much of the latter in NC but you get my meaning.

CT, your Nikon Foo is renoun.   Wink

I recently put the 2.5-10x42 with the standard NikoPlex reticle on my dad's '66 Sako 22-250
he loves it

I think that is probably the best all around scope for the money you can get

I'm also looking for a 'best bang for the buck' kind of scope to put on my new Tikka T3 stainless in 300 win mag.  I've decided on the Nikon thanks in large part to this forum.  Thanks guys for your posts.  I'm crossing my fingers for father's day.

You should pick up the Monarch because the Leupold VXII is not in the same class.
