OK, I've standardized on Millet as the best inexpensive STEEL Weaver-style ring (they make Redfield turn-in style too). The windage adjustment on the STEEL Angle-lok rings are great, but heavy! However the Aluminum Millet Angle-Loks are not windage adjustable. Lots of people make great, more expensive stuff for Weaver bases (Leupold QRW for example). I've tried some other brands but most have problems (out of round, too big, too small, etc.) So, who makes a good, lightweight ALUMINUM Weaver-type ring, CHEAP, preferrably with windage adjustment and/or quick-release, but not necessarily if they are really cheap (but really good)? Something that won't require two hours of lapping bar work? Please don't say Weaver, as i call them tilt-o-matics (anyone whose mounted one knows what I mean).

Thats a tough one. "ALUMINUM Weaver-type ring, CHEAP, preferably with windage adjustment and/or quick-release"
I would have to say Warne for quick release, they are the original and most copied quick release "Weaver" style ring. For windage adjustable you are severely limited. Burris makes the Signature series that are adjustable for windage via the inserts only problem is they are steel and not as light as the non adjustable Millet. Millet is hard to beat, you might have to just live the weight and use their windage adjustable, angle lock, steel ring. |

Thanks, Chris. I guess it's just like scopes, the more you pay the more you get. I love my QRW's but once they are mounted they do the same job as any ring does. I guess I shouldn't always think "cheap". Fifty bucks or more for nice rings is one place most can afford to "splurge". Since you recommend Warne, will SWFA carry Warne? (You have a lot of rings and mounts already). Any feedback on the IOR rings? They look like a "cheap" alternative to Badger. haha Are they steel or Aluminum (I can't find it on your site). The Picattany accessory ring looks fascinating. I could mount three scopes on one rifle, have a versatile rifle and increase your profits!

True...I agree you should not skimp on the one part that ties the scope to the gun.
We are looking to expand out ring and base offerings and Warne is at the top of the list.
The IOR rings are steel and a less expensive alternative to Badger or Mark 4 but not a replacement by any means. Never thought or using the accessory ring for another scope, we should do that just for grins....it would really get people to wondering "what the heck?". |

Chris. I'm going to use one of those IOR Accessory rings to mount an Eotech over top my high power varmint scopes. I like to use my custom 10/22 for beavers up close with fast shooting, but still like to pound gophers at crazy ranges for a rimfire. Plus, beavers are shot mostly at dusk or in total dark. I could use the high power for distance and the Eotech for close up or night work. I could also do this with a couple of my centerfire varmint rifles. I don't know why I haven't thought of this before. Thanks for the great idea - no need to use QR rings! Why don't you throw a demo rig like that together and post a photo so we can see how that would look? We always see rigs like that for military rigs, but a hunter can use that idea too. I think it would be extremely cool. I am going to get me a couple. Edited by Riflman |
