My optics surfin' has me lusting for nice pair of light high quality 8x32 size binos. Looking at Swaro 8x30 wb slc approx $890.00 (21 oz) vs Zeiss Conquest 8x30 approx $630.00 (18 oz) vs Vortex Viper HD approx $560.00 (20.5 oz)
top 3 in my mind are Zeiss, Swaro and Vortex HD. I have no way of handling these in person I have to depend on reviews. I could go for the Swaros if they were noticably optically better than the Zeiss or the Vortex HD. Anyone have experience comparing these models how do they compare optically?

Alot depends whether you wear glasses or not. I had the Swaro 8x32 ELs but they were always on the edge for eye relief. The birding forums always seem to list the Zeiss Victory 8x32 at the top of their list - a bit pricey but demos and used ones can be had cheaper ( I do have the 8x42 Victories).

Last summer I went thru a search for a midsize binoc and had about 6 different pairs at home including a Vortex Fury and the famous Zen RAy 7x36 EDII. I sent everything back and kept a pair of Leupold 8x32 Gold Ring non-HD for $339. I was comparing all of them to my Ziess Victories and my Leica 8x20 Ultravisions - the Leupold GRs won the contest and they are the ones I take to Michigan football games.

Swarovski's are better than the Zeiss Conquest for sure.  Not sure about the Vortex as I don't have any experience with them.  I can tell you that Swarovski has the best customer service in the business and they will repair anything that happens to them as long as you don't run over them with a truck, drop them from a building.  I have the 7x42 SLC's myself for hunting and really love them.  I'm in the market these days for a nice Swarovski Scope for my new hunting rifle.  Good luck!

I have never heard a bad thing about the Meopta Meostar 8X32.   I have seen them, and found them excellent in every respect.  If I was getting an 8X32, it would be the Meostar:

Vortex will repair your bino's even if they get ran over by a truck, or chewed up by a dog. I'd have to say they have the best customer service in the business hands down.

Ditto the Meopta Meostar.  The Vortex HD's are new enough you might not find anybody who has seen much of the 8x32.

As far as I know, SWFA has a 30 day return for refund policy.  The best thing to do is narrow to a couple of choices, call them and make arrangements for ordering a couple and keep the one you like.  Reviews and forums like this can go some distance to helping make a choice, but nobody else has your eyes and hands.
