The 4200 elite, nikon primos, and sightron Sll would pretty much be the best of the bunch in your price range.

not sure what the poop is with these...... but have you guys seen these?

there is a Silver Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9X40 for $199.95 and a 4-12X40 AO for just $259.95

Not sure you can do better than these for the $$.

this rifle will be for shooting running yotes. it needs to have a wide field of view and be clear. nothing fancy. but it has to be 100% reliable. i dont like the bdc for the simple reason,  i just want a plain rectical. will the bdc work on coyote size game? lee

Holy Smokes, Bullwinkle!! Where did all those Nikons come from? Where they found in a forgotten corner at Numrich's? What a good deal on fixed powers! Where were all those posts from last week by people wanting 4 and 6 power scopes? Google%20It       --Ed

Another option is the Weaver Grand Slam that  can be had for around $250 and is a fine scope for the money>> I know you want something different than the 4200, but why?? It is probably the best buy out there .

The 3-9 4200's are vanishing and the Team Primos is my pick for best buy, now. I have used both 3-9's side by side and they are very close.

Lee.......................Sounds like you have the itch just to get another scope???...........At around the $250 price point, you already have the best scope on the market, the 4200!! Two of them!!.............I guess your looking for the 2nd best now??..........The Nikon Primos would be a likely candidate or as mentioned before, the Weaver GS! I don`t see how one can improve upon those at that price point!

You may want to take a look at the Burris Fullfield.  I don't own one personally, but several of my hunting buddies use them and love them for the money.  Not aware of any problems out of the scopes from a group of 4 guys that use them.  You can pick them up well under your budget on EBAY, just another option.  GL.

Same here, the FF's are good and I still have a few. The glass isn't up to 4200 or Team Primos/Monarch contrast, resolution and low light performance, though.

Pobably so, I have read many good things about the Nikon's, I've only owned an Omega and did not own it for long.  Never have looked through any of their other scopes.  My hunting buds did a group buy on the Burris and if I remember correctly approx. $150 each shipped.  I would not hesitate to put one on a smoke pole, but for yote hunting the 4200 will probably be hard to beat.
