$199.99 $725.00 Leupold makes an FX3 6x they used to make a target version with target knobs and custom shop might be able to do something like add M3 knobs to an FX 3 Leupold and Weaver still make some very high magnification target scopes. SWFA SS scopes come in fixed 6, 10, 12, 16, 20 If you plan to just target shoot this rifle you can put a higher magnification scope on it but if you plan to also hunt it I would stay at 6x or lower on a fixed power. Several companies used to make other fixed power scopes but most people are buying variables not the fixed. Are you set on a fixed power scope? If you are I would consider the 6x IOR Valdada above.

I have an older Leupold 6 x 42 AO with target knobs and it is a great scope. The older ones were called tactical and mine has a fine duplex. I look here at SWFA and on Leupold's site and they no longer exist. If you can find one, that is what I would get.

I would consider one of the SWFA SS fixed power scopes. They have the classic models in 6x, 10x, 12x, 16x, and 20x. Then they have the HD model in 10x. When I had the HD model I ran my on my Ruger 10/22 for a while and I thought it was awesome. The glass quality is outstanding and the adjustments were great. It only focus's down to 50 yards though where the classic models go to 20 yards IIRC. I also ran a classic 10x on the same gun and it was great as well, but I like the optical quality of the HD much more. |

The Classic fixed models go down to 10yds. A fixed 6x would make a very nice scope for a 22LR.

I've had a Simmons 4x on my Browning BLR22 for years. It was very affordable---maybe $50 about 15 years ago, but it's held zero since I put it on. You don't need to spend a lot to be pleased with a rimfire scope.

I forgot about the SS. It is a beast at 20 oz, but it adjusts down to 10yds and might just fit fine on the CZ. At $299 it is an even better deal

I'm also looking for a fixed power rimfire scope, but for a .22WRM. My purpose is mostly hunting and some plinking so I am zeroing in on 4 power. Now while I'm far from an expert on optics, I do understand the problems of parallax with rimfire scopes so I have convinced myself that I adjustable parallax or AO.
The gun is a Ruger 77/22 All Weather .22WRM with no sights.
Regretfully that seems to eliminate Leupold scopes which I love for most of my guns. ( I know they would custom adjust the parallax wherever I want it, but with a .22WRM, I believe adjustability is important.) I think I have settled on Hawke Sport Optics 14242 Vantage 4-12x40 AO 22 WMR IR Riflescope. As I stated, I'm far from an expert, so I am interested what others think of this choice. |

An AO is not necessary if you get a rimfire scope. Rimfire scopes usually have the parallax set to 50yds. A center fire scope is usually set to 100yds. For mostly hunting and some plinking this would be a good choice in the Leopold line. And is 4x.Also be sure to purchase some good rings for it. Good rings are important!!

I have had a Bausch and Lomb 4X Balfor on a 10/22 for 30 years. It does everything I need but might be under powered for 100 yard target shooting.

Assuming you acquire one with the parallax set at 50 yards, experience has taught me that many rimfire hunting shots are at far less than 50 yards when hunting squirrels and rabbits, and in pest control, and some shots with a .22 WRM are certainly at 100+ yards for coyotes, etc. Having hunted at these ranges with a scope, I have found parallax does interfere, and once upon a time I had an excellent scope (Beeman Blue Ribbon) with adjustable parallax that really helped. Unfortunately, my son ended up with that scope and they are no longer made. If it wasn't for the adjustable parallax issue, I would be all over the Leupold you suggested. They even offer a service to custom adjust the parallax at whatever distance you want if you go directly through them! While that is a unique service, it really doesn't solve the problem for me. Please educate me about rings. I understand that unless you are looking to co witness that you want the scope as low as the gun will allow, but I just assumed the factory rings from Ruger were fine for a 1" scope. Looking to learn here.

I don't see the need for AO on a fixed 4X at all. Been using my 4X with 100 yd parallax to shoot critters from 5 to 75 yards with no problems. I think the AO comes into play when the power starts getting north of 6-7X.

My son has a Beeman SS2 is a short scope that I bought originally for me in the 1980s that he ended up with in the 1990s. It is a 4x fixed-power scope with a 21mm objective. It has adjustable parallax, and it adjusts to less than 5 yards. It is clear at 12 feet. It was not cheap being north of $300 in the 1980s. If they were still made, or if I could find a used one in great condition, this is what I would buy. Unfortunately, I can’t find one so I’m searching for something similar.
