Well... I broke down and ordered one.

I really like the synthetic stock for a hunting rifle, and I really don't want to give up the toughness and practical utility...but that's a really good deal on a beautiful stock!

Maybe I'll just keep it for a future project or maybe I'll just put the old girl in her new clothes every now and then when I want to show off how purty she is.

I have a synthetic Mato in 30-06.  My stock has checkering on it, it is not a smooth stock like pictured above.  I bought the rifle for $500 new on a closeout.  I just ordered a walnut stock for it from Beretta this morning.  I will let you know how it looks when I get it.  The pictures of the stock look great.  For $139, I could not pass it up.

Thanks very much for the heads-up on this, Churchillman!  That's a heckuva great deal!  I received ship confirmation from Beretta last week, so I anticipate I should be receiving my stock by Wednesday, possibly today.  Looking forward to seeing it!

I got my stock yesterday as well.  In short, it's the best $140 I ever spent!  Very nice!

I can't install my barreled action in it yet because I replaced the factory Mato trigger with a Jewell, and I forgot the Jewell unit is wider than the factory Mato trigger.  In order to fit my action into the wood stock, I will need to widen the trigger slot in the stock.

I'll still try to post pics of it later this eve, though.

When you are replying to a post, look above the message box and you will see a series of icons.  There is one right above the "B" (bold) icon that looks like a pic of a tree.  Click on that, and it will open another window.  Click on the "browse" button, and that will allow you to navigate to where the pics are on your computer.  Once you find them, double click or click "o.k." then "upload."  Repeat that process for all pics you want to post, arrange them in your post, then click "post reply" as normal.  Pics must have a max file size of 1024KB, so you'll probably have to resize them before you can post.

If you're still having problems, you can send them to me, and I'll be happy to post them for you.

ar15a292f, is that a factory stock ? That is one sweet looking rifle. If it's not factory wood, could you share some info on who carved that one ?

Never mind, I just went back a page on this thread and see that these are factory stocks. If you told me they were $500+ I would have said it was money well spent. I've seen quite a few Cooper Custom Classic's that didn't look all that much better than that stock you have there. You guys scored big time on that deal.
