Welcome

You may want to PM Cheaptrick as he is a left hand shooter with a 700 rem and a SS

Welcome to The OT.

You really don't need a canted rail to get to 1000 plus yards with the SS.

THAT SAID....I'd recommend getting a 20 MOA rail because you may decide to switch to a scope with less UP someday and that scope may not have the generous elevation of the SS.

I switch out many scopes on my Remington .308, but the 20 MOA Badger rail remains fixed on there.

There are many good threads on here regarding the SS.

There are many rail producers if the Badger is on a long back order ( they do a lot of military contracts) you may want to contact TPS_Phil by private message the company he is with makes good rails and I think they are not as expensive as Badger. I am using a 25 moa rail on my 30-06 and I love it for long shots varmint hunting.

What scope and rings are you going to use? are you shooting target or varmint hunting?

Thanks Duce

I shoot right and left-handed.  have a rem 700 PSS with badger mounts and rings and have been extrodinarily pleased.  Have a NightForce on top (also pleased.)

The 20MOA is a good idea for reasons listed above as well as to give a bit of buffer for the scope.

yea, they will cost almost as much as the scope iteself, but there is an expression: "$10 saddle on a $5 horse" that fits well here.  A great gun and a great scope suck if they interface at cheap, stamped garbage mounts.  Spend the cash, do it right the first time, and enjoy many years of great service.
