I would like to upgrade the rings , base and optics on a Husqvarna. the research i have done indicates the gun may be the Crown Grade model, but the bases for that model won't match up to the receiver. the only base that comes close is for a Mauser FN. as far as optics this is going to be my deer rifle, I have checked out the Leupold 3.5-10x50 , Bushnell Elite and Burris 3x9. I would like to keep the optics around $400-500, with quality rings and base to match. This is my first posting and I am relying on the experts for help.

     thanks

Have you tried the Leupold standard base? Husqvarna Carl Gustaf & Crown Grade 1 piece base. If it works it would be a nice set up for mounts. Between 400-500 for hunting your best bet would be a Zeiss Conquest.

Zeiss 3-9x40 Conquest..... $449.95

 Brady,

The base you mention I believe would mount on receivers that are at the same height, this gun the rear section is lower by about 1/4''. would the Mauser FN one peice work? where can I get demensions for these mounts?          ;                                                                                                                                                                                         From reading the other posts it appears alot of people believe Leuplod is over priced, the Zeiss has a 40mm objective lens where the Leupold is 50mm. Is this something not to be worried about? I thought the larger the lens the more light and better performance at low light. Please advise!

I don't believe the FN base will work. Your gun was not listed to be one it fitted. You may have to call Leupold

(503-526-1400). Talk to one of their technical reps and see if you can come up with something. They should be able to supply some dimensions as well.

Leupold is over priced. When a company markets their product as much as Leuopold. You tend to pay for some of that marketing when you pay for the scope. You are right, the larger the objective the more light that will enter your eye. That is just the case on the higher powers though. Your eye will only dilate so much so buying a large objective scope will be meaningless. Unless you plan on keeping your scope on the higher powers.A 40mm Conquest is more than enough on a 3-9 variable.
