Have a Browning BAR safari grade .308 with boss so there are no iron sights on it. Its blue with the wood stock. Kind of old school look. I am looking for suggestions on a mount and rings.
this is for hunting only. mostly in the midwest. might be shots out to 400 yrds but not likely.
Going to be using a leupold VX  3.5 - 10  40mm

thanks

Welcome to Optics Talk.

When you mentioned "old school", my mind reverted to the classic rings and bases of old, Conetrol.
I'm fairly sure they make what you need for your particular rifle.

Or, Talley Light Weights, sold by our Gracious Host, may be more to your liking. I have them and love them on my Rem. 700.

I just meant as far as traditional hunting rifles. Wood stock, blued, leather sling, checkering, engraving. Things like that. Before the days of parkerizing, camo, paint and synthetic stocks.

I do appreciate the response. I will take a closer look at those. Good solid base and rings.

OR... just a good ole set of Weaver bases and Millet Angle-Loc Rings.  Great for a pure hunter...  HOWEVER, if you are not pretty skilled in setting up windage adjustable rings and/or don't intend to use a gunsmith who is, DON'T GET THE ANGLE-LOCS.  You can ruin more than you help...
