Why does everyone think Barska is a bad scope.  I put a 6X24-50 on my .243 WSSM.  It is very clear and was easy to sight in.  I think for the $70 I spent on it is a very good buy, rather than spending 300 to 600 on a Leupold or another pricey scope.  Don't get me wrong, Im sure Leupold is a great scope, but not everyone can afford to put a scope on a gun that is worth more than the gun itself.  So as of right now, I think Barska is a very good deal...

What exactly can go wrong with a scope?

Wandering zero is the most comon complaint.

Then there is the shifting zero with magnification change; inconsistent adjustments, etc.  There are also various catastrophic errors with lens mounting.

Then we get to various optical problems, in no particular order: distortion, inability to focus properly, poor low-light performance, coating deterioration/delamination, ghost images, reflections, etc.

You do not have to spend $600 for a decent scope.  For $200 you can get a Burris Fullfield II or Sightron S2 3-9x42.  If you can't afford that, for about $90-$120 you can get Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 or Sightron S1 3-9x40.

I dont think that it is bad when people buy cheap optics and $70 is pretty cheap as long as you dont expect much out of it, it should be fine.  Where I think people are crazy is when they buy not so cheap low end stuff like the Baraska Swat.  For that much money you can get a Nikon Buckmaster or a Burris Fullfield, Bushnell 3200 all of which are better scopes from repitable companies.

I have a Simmons 3X9-40 on my Ruger 10/.22, I like the more powerful magnification for tagert shooting at long distances and for varmint hunting at long distances.

If you want a decent quality high magnification scope prepare to spend quite a bit more money. If you ar eon a budget, stay with 3-9x40 or something along those lines and try to get the best glass you can find.  You'd be surprised at how much better you can see with a quality 3-9x40 than with an el cheapo 3-9x40.

Well so far, I like my Barska 6X24-50 on my Winchester .243 WSSM, and its right on, so I will stick with my $70 scope, hopefully it won't break down like suspected
