I have a Nightforce 1-4NXS scope that I was not using so I mounted on Remington 597 22LR.  I'm gonna eliminate the squirrels at my house.  Anyway, I see the barrel when looking through the scope in the bottom portion of the recticle.  Having never used a scope on a 22 rifle, I followed the suggestions of optic dealer and purchased the lowest Nigtforce rings and they are mounted on a set of Warren mounts on top of the action.  I was told with a 22LR, you want them as low as possible.  So my question is, would this be normal.  I have not sighted it in yet, so I guess that may solve the problem.  It was on a AR15 previously.   But I wanted to find out in case I need to change the rings before I use them.

Thanks for any help you might provide.

Rusty

I think that's normal to see the barrel on very low powered scopes.  I had a leupold 1-4 on my 338 win for a while, and I could see the barrel on 1 and 2 power.  Some people, I guess, find it bothersome, but I never really had a problem with it.

I recommend the Stanley Model XYZ 12-inch hacksaw...

Seriously, it is just a side-effect of the wonderfully wide field of view that scope has at low magnification. Not really a problem per se, but I agree that it can be a bit distracting until you become used to it.
