Anyone know anything about the B&L Balvar scopes? I just bought a Ruger 22 mag rifle that has one on it. I have a few B&L elites, but have never had any dealings with Balvar. this one is a 1.5-6x20, with Gloss finish and a gold triangle on the windage cap. Made in japan, and is amazingly clear. It appears to be of good quality, but I would like some opinions on it before I decide whether to use it or not. any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Guys!

There were different versions of the "Balvar" brand over a period of many years.  All were the very highest quality Japanese scopes of their era.  I assume that you are talking about a scope that has adjustment turrets that are integral to the scope?  If not the scope adjustment would have to be done in the scope  base.

The Balvar scopes with external turrets have pretty decent coating technology except for flare, if I remember correctly.  They are very high quality optics  which if kept in good shape, should work pretty well.

thanks oldtrader! yes, this one does have turrets, and is in pretty close to what I would have to say is mint condition... I was able to find a little info about some older balvars, but nothing at all concerning this particular model. Your info helps alot...thanks again!!
