I got some of those cheap Silver Bear 223 62gr HP that I would like to try with my SIG 556 and my Nikon 2.5-10X50 with BDC. to use the BDC correctly I have to use Nikon Spoton Cal, but there is no data for the < ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">Silver Bear 223 62gr HP. I can enter my own data. I was able to find chrono speed for this rd. However, where I can find the Ballistic Coefficient for it?

Thanks

for reference:
I borrowed a chrono and tested some inexpensive ammo. These results are from my 556 (of course) and I was only testing velocity and consistancy not accuracty but all shots hit a 8" plate at 100 yards with a EoTech sight.

speer's 62 gr. fmj is .307, so it is probably close to that.

BTW, Wolf ammo is the slowest, and has the highest deviation?  Now that is quality...

I have been looking for the last 30 min. and all I can find is a MV of 3045/3050 depends which bullet.
I would check other manufacturers 62 gr. ammo that could be similar MV and go from there.
As you said,The Nikon Spot On site will help you with distances for your BDC reticle, but without the BC there will probably be some deviation. Only the range will help really dial you in. I have used some of the Russian made ammo, While I won't mention any names I have had as much as 200 fps differences on 55 gr fmj ammo. Also the powder tends to not ignite completely so you will end up with a dirtier rifle then usual.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Ok even if you found the listed BC for the bullet, it is prob going to be fudged a little, they all are. Then you get into g1 vs g7 and all of that. Just choose a bc close to your bullet type. Try taking the average of fmj at your weight. It will get you close enough for the spot on software. Now once you have that shoot and confirm you bdc as you should with any bullet. The program is just going to be close anyway. Even if you had the real BC. That is why we all have to verify our range cards.
