Hello all.  This is my first post here.  Thought maybe someone could help before SWFA opened up.  Just bought a Leupold LR 3.5-10 M3 off the sample list.  Got it today.  Nice looking but elevation turret with audible clicks only going down, inaudible and mushy going up.  Windage no audible clicks, but ok feeling.  Is this normal for Leupolds?  This the first one of these scoped I've owned.  And as an aside, does anyone know what size butler creek scope covers this model takes?  Thanks.

M3 turret movement is more a tactile thing than an audible one.  While movement may not be heard, the stops at each increment should be felt.
Windage is usually pretty spongy on the MkIV M3 series, which is a good reason to use mil holds once innitial zero is established.

That is very helpful and reassuring.  The folks at SWFA suggested I remove knobs and unscrew underlying turret to expose and remove the rubber O ring.  But I can't keep the turret from spinning when I try to unscrew the top.  I am afraid to rotate the assembly until it stops for fear the torque against the stop turret may harm the reticle assembly.

You bought a used scope, I'd say send it to Leupold and have it serviced, it shouldnt be that expensive to have someone that knows what they are doing fix it before you do more damage.
