It's here, it's mounted. Now time to make fire & noise.
I've been reading up on what may be THE most talked about, and reviewed scope out there - SS 10x42.
It came today as kit#5 with flip ups & shade for base scope price.

As a reviewer, I'm probably the least qualified, but I'll give a laymans first impressions:
As mentioned in previous post - a plain white box in a plane brown box, with Tasco / Japan printed on the wht box.
Besides the 42mm objective, this scope is really HUGE to say the least. The knobs and focus adjustment are meaty.
Knobs feel good, the mil-dot reticle is short & small. I've looked through a Sightron SIII with mil-dots and they were gigantic dots, so I was leary of what I might get with the SS, but these are fine.

The scope was a really tight fit in the TPS/TRS rings. Like fitting a 31mm scope in 30mm rings, but all is good. Thought the med rings might be too high as the bell is 1/2" above the barrel, but throwing the gun up, everything seems to fit well with head & eye to scope.
I'll see if I can get pics up. This set-up is a full fledged deer rifle shooting open fields ranging from 100-500 yrd shots. Grocery list is as follows:
Jim McCollough built 7mm STW
Rem 700 action fully trued
Douglas #5 sporter barrel, .710 @ muzzle 10 twist
HSP camo sporter T-hole
Rem trigger set @ 30oz
Teflon finish
Warne 20 moa rail
TPS med rings

Jimbo, you have one of my very FAVORITE calibers... I have a Winchester M70 Classic Laredo in 7mmSTW w/HS Precision stock, bull barrel, custom bolt.  I have Springfield Armory 6-20x56GenIII scope on it, but have exercised it with the SS10xHD... a VERY nice scope on that rifle.  However, the 10xHD has been mated with Elvira, The Mistress of the Dark(.50BMG).  You will be happier and happier with the SS10x42, it is a great scope.  Keep us/me informed.  Interested in how you like the STW.

Nice setup.  I would love to see a pic.

I have a Douglas on my Rem Mod. 7 7-08, and it shoots lights out.

Kickboxer, I've enjoyed the 7stw a lot. This rifle started out as a 7mm mag, built in the mid 90's, but the super mags were the rage back then, so I stepped it up after a couple years, and a bunch of deer.
I'm going with 162 gr A-max's ahead of either RE-25 or Retumbo this year, whichever works better.

Yea, I'm an STW guy. Got .257 stw that shoots 100 gr's like a laser out to 500.
Probably should have posted this under the gun section, but "what the hell".

The setup you have sounds great and I hope you keep us informed on how you like the 10x on it.  You can certainly "reach out" with it...

I think I read somewhere that there were abunch of boxes left over from the original production run, and they're just using up the old boxes, but it does indeed say " Tasco product of Japan ".
Not starting nothing, doesn't matter, just stating the facts.
