Hello Newbie here, Just built a ARP 6.8X43 16" 11.25 Twist with a 10.25 Diamondhead rail. Nice light system! Looking at scopes now to complete build. I want to be able to adjust viable magnification do to older eye's. Plus, I want to keep scope as short and light as possible. Want a scope that is either 2x7 or 3x9. These two should be able to put to good use, with my ability, the range of the 6.8x43 with a 16" barrel. I will buy either one of the two tactical scopes sold by SWFA the Burris AR PEPR or the SWFA AR S.S. I feel the 3x9 is in my best interest? I like the Redfield Revolution cause it is a great price Accu-Range and comes with mount. The Leopold ultralight 3x9 is around 10" long and weighs only 8.8 oz. Then we have the Vortex Viper 2.5 x 10. This seems to be and all around favorite?

I just built a 6.8x43 too off an ARP 16" barrel/bolt. Temporarily, I'll be using an SS 3-15 with Seekins high rings. But will either equip it with the SS 3-9 or 1-6. An ultralight scope would be tempting...this rifle weighs 6.3 lbs. unloaded and w/o scope/rings...but I'd be wondering about reliability. In my case, I also don't see the rifle being used past 300 yards so the 1-6, while pricier and heavier, has illum, which I'd use.

The 1-6SS would be a better fit to me.  Still a top contender to go on my Grendel.

Just recently put a Leupold VXR Patrol 3X9X40 on my Spikes 6.8spc and couldn't be happier with the weight and performance so far.  Very light and the fire Dot is awesome!  BTW its mounted with a Larue LT-104 mount.

I think a VXR 2-7 is about ideal for a 6.8

I have a Bushnell 4200 1.5-6 x 36 on my 16" 6.8 build and it works quite well.

I wouldn't mind a little more power on the top end when target shooting with it but for hunting the 6x is more than enough and I usually leave it at 4x or lower to have better low light performance.

The 1.5x low end is good enough for stalk hunting too.  If you think you'll do any stalk hunting or walking around then I would go with a 1x bottom end.

The VXR Patrol 3-9x would be my choice as well.  I have one of those on my 300 blk and a Burris Euro 1.5-6x on my 6.8.  Both are excellent scopes, but I much prefer the features of the Leupold over the Burris.  But it cost $300 more too, so I should.
