I was wondering if the Meopta scopes had etched glass reticles. There was a site that made reference to this but haven't seen it anywhere else. thanks

I see you joined almost two years ago and finally posted. It's great to have you on board!
I checked the Meopta web site and they say etched.

Thank you for the effort with site reference. In a moment of focus and coherence, I too went to the Meopta website soon after posting here and found this pertinent info, duhhh. I'm looking at the R1 Meostars for use with a .50bmg. and wondering if one of these is up to the task. They seem to be first rate and would suit my modest needs. While not inexpensive they are not stratospherically priced =gotta look at the budget and Nightforce would be a real ouch in pocket. Any practical experience or knowledge regarding these would be appreciated.

I have no experience them. A few members around here have and hopefully they'll be around. I have some experience with the big .50 in a McMillan. You do want a very durable scope.
There may be some better alternatives for the BMG. The one I was using had a Leupold target scope and worked great. It never lost zero and the glass was pretty good.

Thanks again. Interesting that you have a McMillan, since the guy that got me on the kick for an etched reticle scope also has a McMillan. He talked to a McMillan about scopes for his .50bmg and was strongly advised to get an etched reticle. Sooo, it makes sense to me. I've got a Burris Black Diamond on an AR-30 .308, a Leupold VXIII on a Rem. M700 Senduro .300WM, a Leupold VIII on a home rolled para-carbine FAL, and a Leupold VXII on another home rolled medium contoured barrel FAL. All are fine scopes in my book. I am waiting on a Bohica FAR50 MkIII and an exotic Meopta would fit the budget for it, though a Nightforce Benchrest would definititely fit, but stretch the bill too. So, I'm just looking around now and the Meopta idea popped up. Have Fun
