I know that the Bushnell Elite 4200s were made in Japan awhile back, just wondering with alot of manufactures moving operations to China for reduced costs, are the current scopes still made in Japan or somewhere else now? Thanks.

Still made in Japan and as good as ever. I'm still not overly impressed with the new Monarch's after their recent move to The Phillipines.

Yeah. I know I'm nitpicking here but the magnification ring on the new Monarch's feel hollow or somehow cheap to me. Even compared to the older style Monarch that was much more solid. You don't see too many phillips head screws used for the purge port in the optics industry either. Sorry to derail the thread. Me likey most Japanese optics.

Monarch scopes have not been made in Japan for a LONG time. Previous generation Monarchs were mostly made in Phillipines or in Thailand, depending on the model. ILya |

Yes I know. I believe they stopped Japanese production in the mid-late 90's IIRC. But the design and quality remained unchanged up until the redesign a couple of years ago IMO. Has anyone else noticed the magnification rings feels hollow? I still use my older Monarch for 300yd BR. It's a great scope that's been on many rifles and always performed flawlessly. Mines not a Japanese production though...Thailand.
