I know lucznik doesn't have good things to say about them but I'm really looking at the Bunton Echo 12-36x50mm as a second spotter. These run as high as $270 and as low as $175, but I can get one for under $90 shipped. I just want to have a smaller spotter to throw in my back pack, but I don't want to cough up $400 or more.

However, if these are made in China, $90 might be a bit high. I looked through a Baraska the other day and almost threw up! Thanks.

I think you will have a recurrence if you go that route. step up in brands such as bushnell, vortex, burris,  nikon. they all make inexpensive but workable spotters.

I better clarify here for accuracy sake...

What I have said is that I have never found any of Brunton's lower-end optics to be worth a dang.  I like their Eterna and Epoch models (though I think the Epochs are grossly overpriced).  Their other lines (Echo, Lite Tech) have never impressed me.  However, I have no experience with this specific compact spotter.  For all I know, it is a "sleeper" and very useful.  I just wouldn't personally give it a chance, based on experience with other optics in the same line.
What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?
