WELL FELLAS I FINALLY FOUND THE SWEET SPOT ON MY ARMALITE AR-50! WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY 50 CAL AND BOUGHT A SCOPE THE NIKON 6X12X42 MONACH AWESOME SCOPE GOOD GLASS WE WENT OUT TO THE RANGE TO SHOOT IT WE RAN INTO A PROBLEMLoco WE BORE SIGHTED IT BY PULLING THE BOLT OUT WHILE HAVING IT SITTING ON CALDWELL ROCK THEN A SAND BAG TOO HOLD IT LEVEL AT ABOUT 50 YRD'S ! ADJUSTED THE TURRET'S TO THE CENTER OF THE RED DOT.

MADE ONE SHOT AT 200 YRD'S  IT WAS SHOOTING ABOUT 12 INCHES HIGH WE ADJUSTED IT DOWN I THINK 18 CLICK'S  SHOT AGAIN SAME  THING THIS TIME ABOUT 10 INCHES TOO HIGH. SO ADJUSTED THE SCOPE FEW MORE CLICK'S DOWN UNTIL IT BOTTOMED OUT WOW NO MORE DOWN!

SO AFTER WONDERING WHAT WAS UP SOME SAID WE MIGHT HAVE TOO SHIM THE SCOPEWhacko NO SHOULD NOT HAVE TOO ON A 450.00 SCOPE SO I STARTED CHECKING OUT THE MOA OF THE NIKON MONARCH I THINK IT ONLY HAS LIKE 60 OR 80 MOA OF ADJUSTMENT. AND 4 INCHES TO THE LEFT
SO COUPLE OF ADJUSTMENT'S SHOT IT AGAIN 1/2 INCH FROM THE RED DOT ON THE SHOOT N SEE TARGETYippeeWOW GUY'S FINALLY WE HAVE FOUND IT  SHOT ANOTHER ONE ALMOST SAME SPOT LITTLE LEFT I HAVE TRYING TOO GET THIS GUN SIGHTED IN FOR A MONTH OR SO THAT WAS THE TICKET A SCOPE THAT HAS ENOUGH MOA ADJUSTMENT'S ALONG WITH THE RIGHT RAIL BUT ANYWAY WE WENT OUT TO 500 YRD' BINGO ABOUT AN INCH FROM THE CENTER RED DOT AWESOME THEN WE WENT OUT TOO 800 YRD'S PUT A MILK JUG FILLED WITH WATER SIT IT ON A HAY BALE LIKE THE ROUND BALES YOU SEE IN FIELD'S MADE A SHOT YES BLEW IT TOO PIECES PEOPLE UNBELIVEABLE WOW I SO PUMPED SO THE AR-50 ARMALITE PROBLEM IS HISTORY THX FOR ALL THE INFO YOU GUY'S HAVE GIVEN ME THIS FAR  AGAIN THX GUY'S ANY MORE QUESTION'S HOLLAR AT ME

That is awesome.  I am glad to hear you got it figured out and dialed in.  Lots of fun.

Get you some of this and stick it inside a watermelon.

If you have never used tannerite you owe it to yourself to try it. It is very impressive and never fails to bring a smile to everyone's face. I have a buddy that loves to use 3 to 4 bottles and empty them into a 2 liter pop bottle at about 200yds.

Also my AR 50 shoots 690gn APs very well and 750 AMAX the best.

We make a lot of videos and people that are not accustomed to firearms are always dissappointed to see the reaction of the 50 contacting something.  They expect it to blow up because that's what happens in the movies, so we started using Tannerite to get more of an effect.

Cool thing about Tannerite is that it is impossible for it to start a fire because the explosion is more like a sonic boom.

Ted_Nugent007,

The first time it is called the "fifty Grin",  good to hear that it all worked out well.  The AR does like the AMAX.  Solids can be a hit or miss with some shooters having luck with them.  Consider joining the Fifty Caliber Shooters Association it is a wealth of fifty knowledge.

Regards,
dsr

Biggest problem with the solids is fouling.  After a few shots, many rifles need cleaning.  Haven't had that problem with my .50.

You might also try some AP rounds, if you have a place that will let you shoot them.  They have very good ballistic characteristics.  I've used a lot of AP and haven't found any yet that don't shoot true...

Of all the types of surplus AP does shoot the best, but you can improve your groups by shadowing graphing the bullets profile on pulled bullets as different manufactures produce slightly different shapes.
