I recently purchased a Colt match target hbar ar15. It has a leapers 4x20 scope on it I am looking to upgrade to a mildot or some type of rangefinding scope. I would also like advice on upgrading the rifle and where to get the items needed. Also any remarks on the rifle itself. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

My AR is a Bush Master Modular and has a Aimpoint ML2 scope on it, with Larue Tactical mounts.

Most of my shooting is done CQB, or less than 100 yards.

Sounds like you plan on doing some shooting out past 100 yards with that match barrel. Nice blaster you have there, BTW.

Do you have a certain budget in mind??

Click on the SWFA at the top of this page.

IOR makes some reasonably priced scopes. If you like mildot, the IOR MP8 reticle may be for you.

Tell us a little more about your budget, shooting scenarios, etc....

I will be using it for prarie dogs, coyotes, various other varmints. Most shots will likely be over 100 yds. My budget for a scope is around 400 dollars. What brands in that price range are high quality and reliable. Thanks for the reply.

Hi SHULLE.I HAVE A BUSHMASTER AR15-MATCH,SUPERMATCH TRIGGER,FREE FLOATING.I had A Leupold 4-12-40.worked great at the range.I just replaced it with a supersniper for longer range shooting. What scope you put on your colt,Has to do with the kind of shooting you doing. If you looking for mil-dot,SuperSniper will work great on your colt.

Sounds like the boys are on the right track the Super Sniper comes in fixed 10 or 16 or 20 and all are in your price range. I have one of these rifles also and I plan to eventually replace the trigger with a better one. The .223 is good on varmits and ammo is cheap. (And anybody that doesnt think .223  is cheap should price a box of 338 Lapua.)

These are great target guns and one other thing I would get is a good military style sling from Creedmore Sports.

Mind doesn't have a scope currently because we are teaching NRA kids to shoot competition.

I have an Insight Shooting Systems AR .223 AI for coyotes, occasional pr. dogs, and i put a Burris FFII 4.5-14X Ball. Plex reticle/turrets. I've found the 69's to be the best bullets for coyotes to about 500 +/-. Beyond that the velocity doesn't give me reliable terminal ballistics to kill them quickly enuf to find them after they've been shot thru the lungs.
