Who do you guys think makes the best AR-15 carry handle scope base?  I had a base years ago that always seemed to want to come loose from the vibration of shooting.  Some of the new ones appear to have a hex set screw to prevent that.  What are you using that you have had good success with for carry handle AR.

I have on made by UTG which stands for "Under The Gun" and is really some sort of air soft gun part - but it works just fine. I also have a few of their other pieces of AR equipment - They are built tough and crude like Russian military equipment - but it works. I put it on my "fun" rifles.

I have one that has a small nipplle that comes down to the Delta ring. Forward of the carry handle, the base is long enough to get 2 fingers in there. It has been a solid performer for me.You are welcome to have it for the cost of shipping. P.M. me your address, and I'll get it in the mail.
Derek

P.S.  I think this base was referred to me as an A.R.T. base or Leatherwood - whatever that means. I can send you a pic if you like.

Guys what I'm looking for is best of class.  I have resisted the urge to try to scope carry handle AR guns for a while (30 yrs). In the 70s they made some bases that had a thumb screw alone and the thing would work its way loose after a few rounds loosing accuracy. I had  a small 4x Colt M-16 scope that was designed to go to carry handle and the system worked very well as the nut had a piece of spring steel attached that once tightened down clipped in place preventing the nut from comming loose.  I can see from the photos the ARMS mounts appear to have a hex screw set screw to prevent the thumb nut from loosening but not having handled one I dont know for sure.

There are tons of carry handle mounts out there and many of the Trijicons are set up to attach to carry handle. I havent put any on carry handle guns for the last 30 yrs because the old styles sucked so bad, but I am wondeing if some of the new systems are not improved and able to remain in place for repeatable accuracy.  Are any of you guys using systems that are  highly reliable and consistent or do the darn things still work their way loose?  Are any of you using Trijicons on carry handle guns?   I'm wondering cause I have a service rifle A2 upper from Whiteoak Armory and I know its capable of extreme accuracy but  target builds

Mine was mounted for over 10 years on a Colt MT6601. It is somewhat a cross between the arms2ext and arms39 above. I never had any issues with it working loose. Never had to re-tighten. This rifle/setup always shot sub MOA with Federal Gold Medal Match ammo and a cheap Simmons 44mag scope.

I have the ARMS # 39 on my carry handle.  I used it on my A2 with an eotech in the front.  The only thing I didn't like about it the eotech is too high to co-witness.  I just changed my upper receiver to an A3, and plan on putting a .22LR barrel and bolt on the old receiver.

As far as its ability to stay in place, its great.  I put it on finger tight, and I could swear that it tightens itself up.  I could never remove the thing without sticking an allen wrench on the side holes to pry it loose.

Also, if you have an M4 handguard, you'd have to trim the edge of the handguard to mount it flush.

Also forgot to mention that its the only mount with this style that also has a lock on the front which makes it even tighter in its place.  The front lock by itself can hold it in place and make it not move.

Yak I have two AR guns one is a match service rifle A2 set up but I have been knocking the idea around of having in hand what I would need to drop a scope on it. I am really happy with my TA442 but its on a M4 type gun. I am always several scopes behind so who knows what glass.  The thing is I tried to scope a carry handle gun about 1977 and the mount would work its way loose after a few rounds, also had a 4x Colt scope that had a spring loaded nut which would stay in place and not work loose. I dont have that now as like a dumb ass I sold all my assault rifles and spare parts etc when I quit being a cop in Texas - now that I find myself back in law enforcement I have replaced them as best I could since some of the stuff cant be had now like the night firing device so I use smith vortex.  I am wondering if any of the mounts made today actually stay put and dont loose their zero.  Smith Enterprises makes one that looks good but ARMS 39 appears to have two points of attachment. I am just surprised that the holes in the nut are not threaded with an allen set screw to secure the mounts.  I also wonder about the trijicon mounts if they work loose on carry handle. It would be nice if I could just win the lottery and buy one of each and test them.

I have an ARMS 39 and YES it does work loose. A little thread locker and all is well.

Also, before bolting on a LaRue to my 47 I ran the Trji on my A2 and it was as sweet as corn! (Just thought I'd through that out there;) )
